Pup-Ornaut Freeze-Dried Dog Ice Cream: Banana Peanut Butter
Pup-Ornaut is freeze-dried dog ice cream, and this is the banana peanut butter flavor: nonfat Greek yogurt, banana, and peanut butter. The peanut butter is dry roasted peanuts and sea salt. That is the whole list.
The idea is astronaut ice cream, built for a crew member who has never left the ground. Because it is freeze-dried rather than frozen, the pieces are light and crunchy and they will not melt.
Ice cream for dogs, without the freezer
The frozen kind has to be eaten before it turns into a puddle. Freeze-drying takes the moisture out and leaves a dry piece that crunches and is shelf stable. The resealed bag rides in the glovebox.
One bag, and peanuts are involved
Banana peanut butter comes in one bag size. It contains peanuts and dairy, so it is not the flavor for a dog who has trouble with either.
We freeze-dry Pup-Ornaut in small batches and ship it ourselves from Malvern, Pennsylvania. If a bag disappears on a schedule at your house, set up a recurring order, or see the rest of our freeze-dried dog treats.

What is dog ice cream made of?
Ours is nonfat Greek yogurt, banana, and peanut butter, and the peanut butter is only dry roasted peanuts and sea salt. Nothing else goes in.
Is Pup-Ornaut frozen?
No. It is freeze-dried, which is a different thing. The pieces are light and crunchy, they are shelf stable, and they will not melt.
Does it contain peanuts or dairy?
Both. The yogurt is dairy and the peanut butter is peanuts, so this is not a single ingredient treat.
How many pieces should I give?
For training we go by 1 to 3 small pieces per session, adjusted for the dog's size and activity. The label lists a minimum of 23% crude fat and about 117.6 kcal per ounce, so keep the pieces small.
